General Plot
The anime begins with the Viscount Albert and his friend, Baron Franz d'Epinay, joining in the revelery of the Carnival on the foreign planet of Luna. There they encounter the Count of Monte Cristo, a stranger interested in Albert and his family. Invited to Albert's home, the guest lays plans to disrupt the peace of Paris for past vendettas.

| The Count of Monte Cristo
The main antagonist of the plot, the Count aims to destroy the lives of those people he encounters within Paris. His reasons remain unclear until the end, when he forsakes all for his revenge.

The young man infatuated with the Count, he is slowly disillusioned by the aristocrat's ways as his life, and those of his friends, slowly collapse around him.
