General Plot A more romantically comical version of Full Metal Panic!, the anime centers around the daily exploits of Sousuke and Chidori as they both try to survive high school, and each other.

Sousuke Sagara A young military officer with an inability to deal with the social world outside his unit, he is assigned to protect Kaname Chidori. His destructive reaction to any possible threat leads to many mishaps and misunderstandings.

Kanami Chidori A high school girl with an unusual ability, she is under the protection of Sousuke and must deal with his anti-social behavior. With a positive and friendly personality, she faces each day and challenge with an optimistic view.

Kyoko Tokiwa Kanama's best friend, she has an optimistic attitude toward life and is often found trying to play matchmaker between Chidori and Sousuke.

Tessla Testarossa A likeable character and a child genius, she took up the family tradition of joining the armed forces at a young age. Already a high commander, she shows more than affection for Sousuke and is seen as the rival to Chidori.

Kurz Weber A sniper and Arms Slave driver, his natural talents are subverted by his tendency to be chase after the fairer sex.

Melissa Mao A highly valuable member of MITHRIL with her electronic knowledge and ability to use an Arms Slave, she nonetheless has a recurring habit of drinking and swearing. She is usually seen in the company of Kurz as they play sitter to Tessa.

Atsunobu Hayashimizu The president of the school council, he approves Sousuke's extreme measures to deal with situations and continuously flashes a white fan in hand.

Ren Mikihara The daughter of a Yakuza boss, she is the vice president of the council and is often seen in the company of Atsunobu. Her personality is one of dependability and kindness, while she holds a hidden interest in the council president.
